Description:

Once Payton has a chance to get comfortable with her surroundings she is a very sweet, playful, and loving little girl. She gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home, and pays absolutely no attention to the kitty cat. Although Payton is approximately 3-4 years old, she is really only now learning what a good life is all about. And she is THRIVING.

In such a short time, she has socialized herself and solicits love at every opportunity. She will do best in a home that can provide her with a stable routine, and one that has time to properly potty train her. She is pretty godd at using potty pads, but her past has made outside potty training difficult. That being said, she is a smart little gal that is so very eager to please her human. Payton can be fairly vocal and may not be suited to living in a shared wall enviroment.

If there are small children in the house, proper etiquette interacting with her will be a must. She is very small and will need to be handled delicately. She has not learned to jump on or off of furniture and it would be encouraged not to teach her or let her learn. Rather picking her up onto the couch/bed and setting her down will be best. Again, due to her size, such heights would be dangerous for her to jump from.

Payton has a long life ahead of her and is so excited to get to her forever home where she can give the right person/family all the love she is bursting to give.

Payton's Story

Payton as well as a few other came to MARS from a South Korean dog meet farm.

With the help of The Humane Society International (HSI) and other rescues working together - this meat farm has come to an agreement to close FOR GOOD at the end!

HSI local campaign manager in South Korea has confirmed “all the dogs are healthy, accounted for, and given nutritious food until we are able to close the farm and bring them to safety.”

According to HSI, "South Korea is the only country in Asia to exclusively factory-farm dogs for eating, in appallingly deprived conditions. In other countries the majority of dogs are pets, working/farm dogs or street dogs, stolen for the trade...When we reach an agreement with the farmer, the farm is shut down permanently and the cages are destroyed. We sign a legally-binding contract with the farmer to ensure they will never return to farming dogs or any other animals. We develop a business plan with them to help them transition to a humane livelihood. HSI has shut down 13 dog meat farms in South Korea, so far."

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
