Description:
Isis is a great girl who has spent the first half of her life as an outside dog. Judging by the fly bites on her ears, it has also been a life of neglect and loneliness. She is very sweet and good with other dogs and cats. **************************************************************** UPDATE FROM ISIS' ADOPTIVE HOME, JULY 19TH, 2011: She has settled in very well. We just finished obedience class and she is doing so well. We go on walks and she does not pull at all anymore (you go through so many dogs so you probably do not remember but when I first got her she would pull as hard as she could on the leash). Now she is walking on a loose leash (unless she sees another dog and wants to say hi) but she is getting better at that. She is also learning sit, down and stay. She remembers her commands better on some days then others.
She is bonding with me. I am greeted with a tail wage every morning and at night when I get home. She also knows her name and is getting very good and coming when she is called, however she still will go into the “catch me if you can” game, but she has learned that when I say “no’” she stops and will come to me.
I have found that she gets very upset when she hears a truck with a load muffler. The obedience class was outside in the park and during class one day a truck went past. All she wanted to do after she head that was to go home. Once she was home she settled down but all during the class her mind was on being anywhere but there.
She is extremely mellow, I guess I thought German Sheppard’s where a little more active. But she is very content to just curl up on her bed and sleeping or just watch me as I do things around the house. One thing that she does do is she likes to watch TV. If there are dogs barking or any type of squeaking noise on TV it will draw her attention. She will sit there looking at the TV and cocking her head.
I have attached a couple of pictures. This first one (of her eating) was after one of our walks. She was so pooped she decided she would lie down and eat. *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
